Who's a good telemedicine candidate
- You live in California but not within driving distance of Costa Mesa.
- You travel for work and prefer a remote care relationship.
- You have a busy schedule and prefer scheduling around video visits.
- You're comfortable with self-administered subcutaneous injection at home (we provide written instructions and access to your care team for questions).
Who's a better in-person candidate
- You want a physical exam at the initial visit.
- You have complex medical conditions requiring in-person assessment.
- You prefer the in-clinic experience — many patients do, and we welcome it.
- You're local to Costa Mesa and want the option to walk in for follow-up.
What's the same as in-person
- The physician. Dr. Sharma reviews every patient, in-person or video, with the same medical rigor.
- The pricing. $119 initial visit, $499 / $699 for the 90-day programs. No telemedicine surcharge, no in-person discount.
- The medication. Same compounded preparations from the same 503(a) pharmacy.
- The follow-up cadence. Monthly check-ins regardless of visit format.
- The bilingual support. Anamaria Schmidt supports Spanish-speaking patients via telemedicine and in-person.
What requires in-person
- If labs come back outside expected ranges and physical assessment is needed.
- If side effects warrant in-person evaluation (rare but does happen).
- If the patient and physician determine in-person is preferable for any reason.
In all of these situations, the in-person visit at Costa Mesa is straightforward — same physician, same care relationship, same record.
California-only

Frequently asked questions
Can I do the entire program via telemedicine in California?
Yes. The initial physician evaluation, follow-ups, and ongoing care are all available via secure HIPAA-compliant video visit anywhere in California. The compounded medication ships to your address with cold-pack handling. We also have an in-person clinic in Costa Mesa if you prefer face-to-face for any visit.
What states do you serve via telemedicine?
California only. Dr. Sharma is licensed in California, so our telemedicine services are available throughout the state — Bay Area, LA, San Diego, Sacramento, Central Valley, all of Northern and Southern California. We do not serve patients located outside California.
How long is the initial telemedicine visit?
20-30 minutes by video. Dr. Sharma reviews your medical history, BMI, contraindications, goals, and answers questions. If you're a candidate, the prescription is written during or shortly after the visit.
What technology do I need?
A device with a camera, stable internet, and a private space for the visit. We send the secure video link by email; no app download or account creation required. HIPAA-compliant platform.
Do I ever need to come into the Costa Mesa clinic?
For most patients, no — the program runs entirely via telemedicine and shipped medication. In specific situations (concerning labs, persistent side effects), Dr. Sharma may recommend an in-clinic visit at our Costa Mesa office.
Is telemedicine cheaper than in-person?
Pricing is the same — $119 initial, $499 / $699 for the 90-day programs. No telemedicine surcharge, no in-person discount. Same medical care, same price.
